Last night i got to watch Band of Horses play a sold out show at the Marquee. I've seen somewhere around a few hundred bands, and i think this was in the top 5. Maybe top 3. They sounded literally perfect. Band of Horses was originally supposed to perform with Willie Nelson in Tempe for the Railroad Revival tour, but the tour got cancelled, so they moved the show to the much to small for them, Marquee Theater. They had no real plans, or obligations for the show, so they just got to jam for like 2 hours and play around 25 songs and just have fun. And they went extra hard because it was the second time their summer tour has been cancelled, stopping them from playing in Arizona for 5 years. All in all, they made me the most stoked I've ever been at a show. They had awesome guitar tones. The singer Ben sounds exactly the same as the record. Their keyboardist/guitarist/vocalist/shredder/insaneguy Ryan Monroe soloed up and down the piano, and guitar, and can sing as high as Ben. Not fair. And the drummer just smiled the whole time, which is so awesome. GAH. Go see them.
